Currently Steve serves as the SCC Sorrento Campus Pastor and also as a chaplain in both hospital and sports team context here in the Shuswap. Over the years pastoral ministry has taken Steve across Canada in a variety of pastoral roles including children, youth work, as well as university campus ministry and military chaplain roles.
Interests & Specialties
Coming in with a pastoral view of the redemption we find in Jesus, counselling with Steve focuses on beliefs, desires and fears of the heart and mind - while being guided by the truth found in Scripture. This process is to help understand the freedom found in gospel life, rather than in a life of religion's rules and to do lists. The experiences Steve has had over the years has equipped him to ideally work with youth, couples and men. Having a heart for strong marriages - marriage couples and even premarital counselling is something that Steve is passionate about. Other areas of experience are navigating the difficult waters of parenting, conflict resolution, faith crisis, relationships, forgiveness, sexual issues, spiritual torment to name a few.
Personal
Having been married 25+ years, with three children in their late teens and twenties, life is anything but simple or dull! You can find Steve with a strong coffee in hand and a book by a long dead author (like John Bunyan, JRR Tolkien and CH Spurgeon) - while sitting within view of the mountains on the side of a lake full of fish.
